As of right now the phenominally successful Arma 2 DayZ mod lists 882,168 unique players. The mod is still in its alpha stage and suffers quite a large number of issues such as griefers ALT-F4ing out of combat, “ghosting” (momentarily changing servers to flank players) and connection issues. Along with bugs in general. Regardless of these issues the mod is still going strong. I think players generally feel that the right issues aren’t being fixed at the right time but fixes are coming in on a semi-regular basis.
The Just Cause 2 multiplayer mod is in development again. Retail (legit) copies will be required according to the developers.

Barely clothed cosplayer and model for Warner Bros. Games Jessica Nigiri was asked to cover herself up. Later she was asked to change. A bit of controversy arose from this incident and here is what I assume is an official explanation. Here is an interview with Nigiri at PE12.

You might have already heard – Diablo 3 is releasing on May 15! I don’t think there’s much else to say other than “Hells yea”. The Collectors Edition has been revealed.
Bethesda is working on an Elder Scrolls MMO. Like Knights of the Old Republic (now an MMO) I think a lot of fans want another single player Elder Scrolls instead. We will just have to see how this pans out. It could be quite interesting.
Borderlands 2 will have offline LAN mode and a FOV slider among other welcome features. Far too many console ports omit these features. Not having LAN pisses many PC gamers off. Not having a Field of View slider literally indicates that the developer did not correctly port the title.
Star Wars: The Old Republic’s 1.2 update is on the Test Center Server. Watch the new features video. Also read the Community Q&A here. There are lots of nice new features in this update including the ability to customize the UI.
Todd McFarlane says in this video that their will be a Kingdoms of Amalur MMO which is currently codenamed Operation Copernicus. A lot of people felt that Kingdoms of Amalur felt a lot like an MMO. This too could be quite interesting.
After many years, a new Wing Commander game is being released on March 22. This one is fan-made.

Baldur’s Gate I and II Being Remade
Somehow I knew nothing about Kingdoms of Amalur until a few days ago. Now that I’ve played it, I am thoroughly enjoying it. It seems to be very well optimized and the controls are very fluid and responsive. That’s something that I find important in gaming. Voice overs aren’t particularly interesting, but the story so far appears to be more so.
Another game I managed to pass up is Trine 2. I’ve never even heard of the original Trine. Where have I been? I don’t know. But Trine 2 is great. Really great. All that can say is it’s worth looking at.
Bethesda released a High-Res texture pack with the Creation Kit. Here is a comparison between the High-Res textures and vanilla textures. Modders have released mods like HD 2K textures, Realistic Lighting, Realistic Water Textures and other mods to create a better graphical experience in Skyrim.

The Diablo 3 closed beta has started. If you want to opt-in then head over to your Battle.net account, check your beta settings and upload your PC specs.
You will be able to download Battlefield 3 and participate in the open beta starting on the 29th and ending on October 10th. Get it here when the beta starts. The system requirements have been released. The recommended specs include a DirectX11 compatible card with 1GB of RAM and I expect that you will want the recommended specs. Especially if you intend on playing at 1920×1080.
Borderlands 2 will have a new UI and split screen action. It will also feature revamped weapons and AI.
Apparently Minecraft’s Enderman liked to walk off with player-made structures. Now they are getting nerfed. Take that Enderman-person-thing.
