E3 2011: TOR Info from the EA Press Conference, etc.

Bioware released a new CG trailer for Star Wars: The Old Republic today called “Return”, which will also be the opening cinematic for Star Wars: The Old Republic. Take a look at that trailer at SWTOR.com. It is over 6 minutes long.

Stephen Reid commented on the SWTOR forums that “There will be no release data announced during E3 2011, and no pre-order details either. Our release date window has not changed. We are still aiming to release Star Wars: The Old Republic in the second half of 2011”.

Star Wars The Old Republic’s portion of the EA conference began with a mashup of several older CG trailers, including part of the new trailer.

During the EA press conference thousands of people on Twitter were asking when information for The Old Republic would be released. When the trailer was shown early on during the EA conference my TweetDeck feed went wild. “The Old Republic” was listed on Twitter’s front page under Trends.

EA Origin will have exclusive videos of EA titles at Origin.com.

Don’t fret. More information for The Old Republic is slated to be released later today and the content you’ve been waiting for – that’s up tomorrow (Tuesday).

If you like expensive peripherals, Razer is introducing gaming hardware (mouse, keyboard, gaming headset, etc) for TOR.

Check out the new TOR screenshots at Askajedi.

Other titles mentioned: Need for Speed (using Frostbite 2 engine), Mass Effect 3, FIFA 12 and Battlefield 3.
